Here's Sean reading the introductory chapter!
Chapter Two: "Why You?"
Well… why not you?
You are a child of God.
Any particular prophet or way-shower you may have been introduced to or even follow today, is actually our elder sibling.
Some of you may be about to slam the book shut in anger as though this concept is somehow blasphemous.
I respectfully suggest that when the One I see as the Master Teacher said “follow me”, He meant it. “The least of you shall do as I have done and far greater things shall you do!” These were loving, encouraging and empowering words. Further, it was an instruction: “follow me”. Our reluctance to accept this is what’s blasphemous —- or short-sighted at a minimum.
As humans, I think we find it overwhelming for such an enlightened being to suggest that we have the same level of power and Divinity. Admittedly the sense of responsibility that comes with that can feel daunting. Yet how awesome is it? That’s not a rhetorical question. That’s an invitation to actually try to process this. Once we begin to realize that we are an expression of God, the more loving we become.
Many religions taught us that we were inherently sinners or somehow unworthy of God’s love. Many of us have had a deep-seated sense of guilt and shame for things we may or may not have done. Once we awaken to the awareness that we are actually God’s hands, feet, and voice in so many circumstances, our sense of responsibility and gratitude increases exponentially. We begin to actually speak and act as the children of God we are. Suddenly colors are brighter, tastes are sweeter, and love is felt so deeply that it’s often difficult to contain the joy.
My prayer is that you see yourself as God sees you.
You are loved. You are worthy. You are goodness and Godliness expressed.
